Overview
What does it mean to become a Christian, a believer, a follower of Christ? Some people think you can be a Christian and go to heaven simply by going to a church where others think, it means being a good person, helpful neighbor, or honorable citizen. On the other hand, the Bible points to only one way.

Where is the way?
The Savior of all mankind was asked, "How can we know the way?" The reply by the Son of God holds the key to everyone's future: Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

When we accept Jesus as Savior and begin a relationship with Him, we are "born again." Jesus was the first person recorded in Scripture who used those words. While speaking with one of the religious leaders, Jesus said, "Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God " (John 3:3). When you pray sincerely, asking Jesus Christ to forgive and cleanse you from your sins, the Bible promises forgiveness for every wrongdoing you have ever done : "The blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanse us from all sin" (1 John 1:7).

You are born again when you follow these simple steps:

Acknowledge your need for Jesus Christ as your Savior by asking Him to forgive you of all your sins.
Turn away from sin (what you do that hurts God, yourself, or others) and stop living in rebellion against God and His Word.
Accept Christ's sacrifice on the cross as final and full payment for your sin.
Invite Jesus Christ to live in your heart as Lord and Savior.

When you do these things, a miracle happens! You are born again! Jesus Christ comes to live inside you. You are freed from the overwhelming penalty of sin. As you obey God's commandments and apply His principles for daily living, the transformation continues: "Therefore, if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17).

As you allow Him to take control and as you choose daily to walk in obedience to His Word, you become more and more like him.
